Five2One
SONGS, CHEMISTRY AND ROCK & ROLL
"A wild combination of Rhythm & Blues, Punk and Pop"
"A varied show in which they easily switch from Rock & Roll to Pogues-like Folk, followed by Heavy Rock"
These are quotes from Dutch newspapers proving that for journalists who are used to catogorize musical styles, it's hard to put a label on Five2One's musical output.
To Dirk Portegies (Vocals.Guitar), Lut Luttik (Bass), Bert Fonderie (Drums,Vocals) and Niels Meijer (Piano, Hammond Organ, Accordeon, Vocals) it's quite a different story. To them it's only natural to blend their musical potential and their different backgrounds and influences into the distinctive Five2One sound. Before teaming up as Five2One in the Spring of '91 each band member had gained his own reputation’ in different bands, playing music from Punk Rock to Soul and R&B covers.
Their influences are equally wide-ranging, for they mention The Clash, Dr. John, The Red Hot Chili Peppers and Willie Dixon. What cements them together is a shared taste for Songs with a capital S. There's nothing like a well written song, well performed, regardless of limitations that particular styles or genres impose.
Find out about Five2One's ability to write and perform their own songs by listening to their album "Make it Big!" Experience the perfect chemistry they achieve on stage and fuel on their lust for life energy at any of their shows.
CHECK IT OUT!!!

Five2One - Make it Big!
For years it had been gathering dust on a shelf somewhere. The songs were recorded. The mix was done. Mastered? Check.
Five2One’s first album should have been released in 1993 but due to circumstances (after the record company went bankrupt the band imploded) never was.
When Niels, Bert, Lut and Dirk rediscovered the recordings in 2018 they were pleasantly surprised. This actually sounds brilliant! It’s a shame that we’re not using this! Good stuff!
After a night of deliberations and beer we decided that the album deserved to be released yet. On iTunes and Spotify; we’re working on a vinyl LP; there is video footage, and who knows: we might do a gig to celebrate all this.
Five2One is back!
This album was recorded at Steel Mill Studios, Velsen Noord, the Netherlands.
Produced by Albert Schierbeek and Five2One. Without Albert's generous support this album would not have been made.
